Foundational Classes

The Holy Spirit A study of the person of the Holy Spirit. Analysis of the workings of the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament, through the birth and life of Christ, in the early church, and in the world today. Special emphasis on encountering the Holy Spirit and allowing Him to actively become a mentor and guide. 2
Prayer An overview of the laws, dimensions and models of prayer found in the Bible. Special emphasis will be given to the prayers of Jesus, praying with the Holy Spirit and the power of prayer. 2
Living Worship A study of selected Psalms and the importance of worship in every believer's daily life. Special emphasis will be given to the prophetic flow of scripture, intercession, and song. 2
The Character of Christ A study of the identity of Jesus Christ, his deity, his earthly ministry, his death, resurrection, the second coming and his subsequent earthly reign. 2
Old Testament Survey A study of selected Psalms and the importance of worship in every believer's daily life. Special emphasis will be given to the prophetic flow of scripture, intercession, and song. 2
New Testament Survey A survey of the New Testament in historical sequence with attention given to the earthly ministry of Jesus, the foundation and the development of the first century church. 2
The Importance of Israel An historical look at the Israelite nation, the covenants, and the promises concerning God's chosen people. Emphasis will be to understand the foundational concepts laid out by God through the Israelites and the implications they have on the modern day Church. 2
Hermeneutics An introduction to basic Bible study methods and rules of interpretation. The student will develop skills in observation, interpretation and application, The course will include instruction as well as significant amount of hands-on application to portions of Scripture. 2
Wisdom Literature A study of the wisdom of Solomon and its practicality for life and godliness. Such topics as wisdom, the fool, friendship, family, fearing God, life and death, and the sluggard will be covered. 2

Health & Fitness An overview of health including physical, emotional, and spiritual health. Special emphasis given to the development of a personal plan for living a healthy lifestyle. 2
Finances An overview of managing personal finances. Topics will include budgeting, investing, and debt reduction. Special emphasis will be given to the biblical teachings on finances and the principle of stewardship. 2
Music Theory 1 An introduction to the building blocks of music including examination of the elements of notation, key structures, harmony and voice leading. The focus of this course will be the application of these concepts to modern music. 3
Music Theory 2 (Prerequisite Music Theory 1) An examination of more advanced concepts of music fundamentals. Will include a more in-depth study into advanced chords and their usage, a continued emphasis on part writing, and a greater emphasis on the analysis of musical progressions. The focus of this course will be the application of these concepts to modern music. 3
Creative Speaking A study of modern speaking techniques. Key components of this course include studies on presentation development and effective communication models as well as numerous in-class speaking opportunities. 2
Digital Audio An introductory course in live and recorded audio. Key topics will include sound system components, pre-production recording and audio editing. Using a hands-on approach to the equipment, students will learn the basics of Pro Tools, the industry standard in audio recording and editing software. 3
Live Production Skills Introduction to and development of the practical aspects of sound and lighting for live events. Emphasis in hands-on training of live audio setup, mixing, and stage lighting design. 2
Effective Ministry (Prerequisite Music Theory 1) An overview of ministry as experienced by seasoned ministers. Learn to understand the assignment you were created for, manage family and ministry, serve in difficult situations, and walk in the love of Christ. 2
Biblical Leadership A study of leadership principles that prepare the individual to effectively lead himself as well as others. Attention will be given to many biblical examples of leadership both good and bad. 2
Practical Life Skills An overview of many of the skills people use everyday that are essential for a successful and fulfilling life. These skills, which are seldom taught to students in school, include healthy interpersonal skills, ministry etiquette, and effective time, talent, health, and creativity management. 2
